Man, 38, arraigned, remanded for alleged job scam

One Alex Oriaifo, 38, was arraigned before a Grade l Area Court, Dei-Dei, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for alleged breach of trust and cheating.

Oriaifo, a resident of Tunga-Maje, Zuba, Abuja, on Thursday, stood trial on a two-count charge of breach of trust and cheating.

He, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in April 2022.

He said that the case was reported at the Zuba Police Station by one Mr Baba Isaiaj, a resident of Warri, Delta.

Ogada alleged that the defendant deceived the complainant and collected N112,000 from him to secure a job for him with the Nigerian Air Force.

He said that the defendant converted the money to his personal use.

According to Ogada, the offences contravene Sections 322 and 312 of the Penal Code, Law.

The Judge, Mr Saminu Suleiman, ordeređ that the defendant should be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre and adjourned the case until June 6 for trial.
